Tortoise compass

The tortoise is a revered animal in Vietnam: it is a symbol of longlife and wisdom. A statue of a tortoise is often placed at the foot of the tombs of important people.

This tortoise is made in exotic wood by Vietnamese craftsmen. On the tortoise's "shell", which serves as the cover for the compass, you will find the twelve signs of the Chinese Zodiac, engraved in Chinese ink. When you turn the cover, you will discover a working compass surrounded by Chinese symbols.
